ABOUT THE ROLE
Job Scope / Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and amend regulations, bylaws, resolutions, and other legislative and regulatory instruments in line with the Council’s governing framework.
- Maintain and update the Council’s legislative register, including the status of legal instruments, effective dates, amendments, transitional provisions, and repealed instruments.
- Conduct legal and regulatory reviews to ensure consistency and alignment across legislation, regulations, policies, and internal frameworks.
- Provide legal advice and guidance on legislative matters, including approval processes, competent authorities, governance requirements, and publication requirements.
- Monitor the legislative and regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on the Council.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on legislation, regulations, and regulatory matters relevant to the Council’s mandate and activities.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders on the development, review, amendment, and implementation of legislative and regulatory instruments.
- Support and coordinate stakeholder consultations on proposed legislation, regulations, and regulatory changes.
- Identify legislative and regulatory risks and provide appropriate legal recommendations and mitigation measures.
- Prepare legal opinions, assessments, briefing notes, and recommendations on legislative and regulatory matters.
- Support the consistent interpretation and application of legislation and regulatory requirements across the Council.
- Support other Legal Affairs roles and strategic initiatives as required.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Qualification / Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Master’s Degree in Law, Public Law, Administrative Law, Commercial Law, or a related discipline is an advantage.
- Minimum 6–8 years of relevant legal experience, with experience in legislation, regulatory affairs, legal advisory, or a related legal function.
- Strong knowledge of UAE federal and local laws, regulations, and government legal frameworks.
- Preferred experience within a UAE government, federal entity, defence/security entity etc.
- Experience in legal research, interpretation of legislation, regulatory review, and preparation of legal opinions.
- Proficiency in Arabic and English, with strong legal drafting capabilities.
